Micro events have typically been hosted online from webinars to group calls, discussion panels and live broadcasts. With the pandemic, these digital micro events became part of our everyday lives rapidly and it wasn’t just for work! We saw one another less in person, had to postpone big celebrations, and move special occasions online as well.
With limited numbers permitted to gather and ever-changing rules around how many people could be in one spot at any given time, micro events moved off screen and into the real world for trendy intimate occasions. Micro weddings became the fashion with elopement-style occasions on the rise around the world. With less people, we could connect better with one another and enjoy less stress in the planning process. We even saw a rise in things like micro music festivals with only a few hundred attendees opposed to the usual tens of thousands.
It would seem then that we are moving away from a ‘bigger is better’ philosophy, and it’s something we adore at Brookdale Estate. Recently opened, Brookdale Manor House is one of the finest destinations in the Paarl Winelands for wellness and warm South African hospitality, coupled with unique wines and an exceptional culinary landscape.
Inspired by the world trend in micro events, chef Gary Coetzee has introduced ‘Intimate Occasions’ at Brookdale Manor House for both in-house and outside guests to enjoy. Personalised menus and wine pairings are tailored to your tastes in a beautiful setting, ideal for events such as birthdays, anniversaries, engagements, vow renewals, business occasions, bridal showers and special moments. Guests can expect homemade breads, locally sourced cheeses and charcuterie, produce fresh from our gardens and nearby farms as well as Gary’s talent for balancing flavour with finesse.
HOW TO BOOK
When making an accommodation reservation, kindly advise our team that an intimate occasion is being celebrated during your stay. You will have a choice of a set tasting menu or family-style buffet to enjoy over brunch, lunch or cocktail hour. A personal consultation for your intimate occasion at Brookdale Estate will ensure your menu is unique and tailored to your tastes and style. Our in-house residents are welcome to invite guests from outside the estate to join them for their special occasion. Location of the event will be subject to weather as well as other in-house guests with possible locations being the pool house and terrace, helicopter pad and lawn, Manor House reception areas, special picnic spots, or our courtyard and gardens.
PRIVATE EVENTS FOR OUTSIDE GUESTS
Outside guests are invited to use one of the Manor House dining or reception areas for 4 hours in privacy and comfort, subject to availability and in-house residents. Guests will have access to walks throughout the expansive grounds, the services of our chef and a tailored experience in the beauty of the Cape Winelands. To book in advance or guarantee availability, we recommend booking a night or two at the Manor House as a special spoil for your occasion.
